We’re excited to announce that we are getting married on August 24, 2021 at 7PM in Athens, Greece! We hope that you can make it so we’re including all of the details here in one central place to make it super easy and convenient for everyone.
We know plane tickets and hotels are expensive so we want you to know that the greatest gift you could ever give us is your presence on our special day, but we completely understand if you are unable to attend.
How it all
Started?
Sparks fly, lips lock, and love is born. That’s how the movies go, right? Our story is sort of like that, but we like to think everything makes sense when it’s supposed to and our timing was perfect testament to that sentiment.
Introduced by friends, we started our lives together by going for sushi and listening to Unforgettable over and over again on the entire ride home from the city (FYI – a whole 30 minutes of a 3-minute song is about 10 times on repeat). As silly as that sounds, it actually makes perfect sense when you think how unforgettable our lives together have become since.
Legend even has it that after that first date, Agatha called up her best friend and re-enacted her favorite scene from one of her favorite movies, Elf, where he gleefully exclaims:
I’m in love, I’m in love, and I don’t care who knows it!
Interesting Fact:
Before we knew each other, we actually lived one block away from each other in Astoria and never knew it until seven years later!

What are the travel restrictions in Greece regarding COVID?
Greece officially opened its borders on May 14, 2021. This means that all US citizens are free to travel to and from Greece. You can read more about COVID-related updates from the Greek govt here: https://travel.gov.gr/#/
In order to travel to Greece, there are certain requirements that must be met:
- You must possess one of the following:
– vaccine
– negative PCR test 72 hours prior to arrival in Greece
– negative RAPID test 24 hours prior to arrival in Greece
– antibody test within 9 months of arrival in Greece
*All travelers, regardless of negative COVID proof in their possession, are subject to random Rapid COVID Screening tests issued at the airports.
- All Tourists must fill out a Passenger Locator Form (PLF) no lather than 11:59PM the day before arriving in Greece. For more information, click here https://travel.gov.gr/#/user/register
Is the venue on an island or is it in Athens?
Even though the event venue itself is called “Island”, it is located in Athens, Greece. We chose Athens instead of a specific island since it is a central hub to anywhere else in Greece. For example, you can come celebrate our wedding with us and then go visit that famous Greek island you always dreamed of with your significant other or friends. It offers you the flexibility to attend our wedding at the beginning of your Euro trip or at the end and then head home back to the US without extra travel.
If you have ever been to Athens before, there is a good chance you might have been to the restaurant side of the venue before, which is simply called “Island Club and Restaurant”.

This seems like short notice, can I still make it?
The short answer is, YES! We know this is kind of sort notice, but with the crazy year everyone has had, we figured it only made sense. Everyone is anxious to get on with their lives and we feel like if you’ve been on the fence as to whether or not you should ever visit Greece, now is the time.
We completely understand if you can’t make it, but we genuinely hope everyone can. We know everyone has been stuck indoors for almost a year so what better way to celebrate than in the sun on the beach in Greece?
Is there a church ceremony?
We went for simplicity to make everyone’s live easier so everything will be at the one location at the Island – Private House venue. We will have a symbolic ceremony to start the night off so please make sure you get there on time!

What hotel should I book?
There is no right answer to this. Some people have opted to team up in AirBNBs, some have opted to choose the closest hotel to the venue itself, while others have decided that they want to maximize their time at the beach so they picked a hotel that has great beach access.
Here is summary of some hotels to choose, along with some pros and cons of each:
WHERE MOST ARE STAYING:
Ever Eden Beach Resort Hotel = This is the hotel where most of us are staying and there are rooms blocked off. It has pools, a beach and is about 15 minutes from the venue. There will be transportation to and from the venue set up for your convenience.
CLOSEST HOTELS TO THE VENUE:
The Margi or Athenian Riviera Suites = These hotels are all about 7 minutes from the venue which makes it extremely easy to get to and from the wedding. Additionally, all are near the beach so you should have time to soak up the sun before or after the big day.
BIG NAME CITY HOTELS:
Grand Hyatt Athens or Hilton Athens = If you want to stay in the city, you will be about 35 minutes from the venue, but you will be closer to exploring the Acropolis Museum, Parthenon, etc. Hilton Athens, Grand Hyatt Athens
GLITZ AND GLAMOUR:
Four Seasons Astir Palace Athens = For those who want the best of the best, look no further than the famous Four Seasons. No explanation necessary. Four Seasons Athens Astir Beach
Can you recommend the best airlines, hotels, etc?
Again, the best airlines depends on where you are travelling from. In our experience, Emirates offers the best quality of any airline flying to Athens, but it is only available out of Newark. Delta picks up most of the slack from there (and flies direct from JFK). Even American Airlines has offered some great pricing on direct flights from JFK-ATH this summer for the first time.
We say pick the best value for whatever works for you. The one thing we can advise is PLEASE BOOK ASAP – THE SOONER THE BETTER – because flights do go up as time goes on. You can always cancel later, but if you see a deal, take it.
Hotels will depend on how long you’re in the area and if you are going to any actual islands before or after the wedding.
Are there any other events planned besides the wedding itself?
Right now, no. We did not want to impose our will on anyone’s plans since most people do not get to visit Greece that often.
We would advise if you have taken the time off, spend 2-3 days in Athens – one day to see the Acropolis, one day for the wedding, one day for recovery and then go to the islands. Treat yourself to the beach and soak up the sun on one of the many great Greek islands to choose from.
You can travel on a 30-45 minute flight to any island in Greece from Athens – Mykonos, Santorini, Kos, Corfu, etc. If Greece isn’t your scene, you can literally go anywhere else in Europe directly from Athens so the choice is yours.
Besides that, we are doing a baptism in Corfu on August 17 for our beautiful daughter, Daphne, and all our invited, but it is not part of the wedding experience. Please message one of us privately if you have an interest in attending the baptism.
What is the dress code?
The bride and groom will be in traditional wedding attire (white dress and tux), but this is not an official “black-tie only” event. Some people are opting to start the night off with a full suit for pictures and then as the night goes on and the party continues, ease up on the formalities. Overall, we would definitely say dress to impress!
The venue is on the coast of Athens and the pictures will surely be beautiful.

What can I do in Athens, Greece?
We thought you would never ask. Athens is a major metropolitan city and there’s lots to see and experience, but it does get very hot in the summer (like any other city) so our advice is to combine our wedding with a trip to one of the Greek islands.
We would say allocate 2-3 days for Athens and spend the rest of your vacation on an island somewhere. In Athens, you can visit the Parthenon, check out the Acropolis museum, go to Monastiraki for a snack and a café and walk around for some shopping.
Even though Athens is not known for its beaches compared to the islands, there are some beautiful beaches to visit and even the famous Astir Beach (requires reservation).
If you like sushi, Athens has Matsuhisa at the Four Seasons, which is Nobu.
How much time do I need to allocate to traveling to Greece?
We’ll use New York to illustrate some points here. Greece is 7 hours ahead of NY and a 9 hour flight from JFK, which means you are losing a day going and day coming from Greece.
We would advise planning for 2-3 days in Athens and as much time as possible on an island of your choice. Traveling between islands in Greece is super easy + cost-effective and part of the main reason we chose to have the wedding in Athens is so anyone could go to any other island of their choice easily, since all flights connect through Athens anyway.
We would say you need at least a week, but two weeks is preferable if you can swing it.
